Why Can't You Squint Your Eyes

Myopia refers to a pathological state that is clearly seen in the distance and is unclear in the distance.

It is a kind of refractive error, and the visual object can not converge on the retina  through the refraction of the refractive system of the eyeball, so it cannot form a clear image on the retina.

It is generally believed that the main cause of non-hereditary myopia is the excessive adjustment burden caused by excessive reading and other close-range activities. When the eyes are used for a long time, the ciliary muscles will paralyze and temporarily lose the ability to relax, which would cause unclear vision, thus forming pseudo myopia.

As a result, the ciliary muscle of the ankle may stimulate the stretching of the anterior and posterior axes of the eyeball, thereby causes irreversible true myopia.

When we narrows eyes, the eyes can limit the incidence of light, thus reducing aberrations and making us see clearer.

Actually, long-term squinting at things can lead to fatigue and tension in the eye muscles, which can make the myopia of the eyes deeper. Though we all know the harm, most of us would squint eyes unconsciously. In fact, the most obvious way to see the distance after myopia is to wear glasses.

Therefore, patients with such habits should immediately change it, and check your eyes in a regular optical chain store in time.

What are the hazards of squinting?

1. Cause eye fatigue

Always squinting at things leads to fatigue easily. Although you can see more clearly, the eyes  are actually more laborious, especially for students who go to school, the pressure of learning is relatively large. While if squint at things always, their vision will drop faster and faster.

2. Deepen myopia

For eyes that are already nearsighted, if the degree of glasses is not consistent, or habitually squinting, you have already made the myopia of the eyes become higher and higher without knowing it, which is why many children are clearly equipped but the degree is still deepening.

3. Cause astigmatism

Blinking eyes can improve vision by physics through pinhole effects and fissures. Therefore, patients with astigmatism often blink when they look far away, and they can correct this bad habit after wearing glasses. It should be noted that blinking is not an inherent manifestation of astigmatism, it can also occur in myopia patients.
